It looks like Ult received the ult-imate schooling of his lifetime. Before I send myself out for that bad pun, this episode was good for Ult’s development. In case you missed it, Ult vs. Lacey is the first time Ult has battled a Trainer on his own on-screen. His past on-screen battles were either with wild Pokémon, or Trainer battles where he was paired up with someone or participates in a group. The fact that his first solo battle had him get clobbered by Lacey really does show he needs to stop being such an overconfident shounen protagonist and start listening to advice.

The event features the Pokémon GO debut of Resolute Form Keldeo in the last part of the Seasonal Special Research story, which will be unlocked at the beginning of this event. Shiny Keldeo will also appear for the first time.

This event was the third Online Competition in the 2026 Championship Series and used the Regulation Set H ruleset, banning the use of all Paradox, Legendary, and Restricted Special Pokémon. Additional Grand Challenges are confirmed to take place in January and May; Global Challenges will be taking place too, but their dates are currently unannounced.

The Pokémon Company has announced a major addition to the Pokémon brand; PokéPark Kanto will be the first permanent outdoor attraction for the company. PokéPark Kanto will be opened as a section in the Yomimuriland amusement park, in the Tama Hills suburb of Tokyo. The park occupies 26,000 square feet and boasts interactive experiences, shops, stage shows, and two carnival rides.
