Controversial opinions

In my opinion, Satoshi did not deserve to become "World Champion" because bending the rules especially for him was unfair to other M8 members.
Well, I understand the sentiment and agree with it on some level, we really should blame Leon for even deciding to let Ash use all of those gimmicks. Ash becoming World Chamion is really just a means to kick him out of the series, gracefully or otherwise.

Okay, I've been ruminating on this for a while, and I think a couple of people already said something similar, but I have thoughts regarding Sinnoh's Grand Festival: Dawn and Zoey probably should have swapped opponents in the semifinal rounds, if for no other reason besides the fact that Dawn never actually got to battle Nando directly but beats Jessie on a regular basis. This means that losing against Zoey in the final round wouldn't make her last win feel so hollow. Now, if there are concerns that Zoey would defeat Jessie too easily... well, if the writers wanted to emphazise the latter's skills, who is to say that they wouldn't have gone hog-wild with that matchup too? If anything it might have ended up benefitting Jessie as well and displayed how when she's doing something that isn't tied with criminality she can be pretty damn good.

It's a bit of an unrefined idea, true, but I think it would have been cool...

If my memory serves me correctly: Wasn't the point of Zoey and Nando being paired meant to reflect on Zoey's stance against that idea that someone could be into Gyms and Contests?

Zoey didn’t like Nando’s stance of participating in both gyms & contests, but then he defeated her at the hearthome contest. Later on she admits to Ash in the sign ups for the Wallace Cup that she needed to learn from both contests and battles in order to get to the top and apologizes to him. By the time the Grand Festival arrives Zoey had already learned her lesson. I’m guessing Zoey defeating Nando was a way to end what they started and showcase that Zoey had also grown in her journey.

The only thing that may have made Zoey and Nando's battle more impactful is if we saw how Nando beat Zoey in their prior engagement. If we saw at least some part of how their battle went, we could be more invested in those two battling one another.

I don't know if it's controversial, but I didn't like Jigglypuff's comeback in SM. I thought it reappearing once in AG for the last time was a good send-off. And seeing doodles on faces gives me nausea, especially with the SM artstyle (I don't like SM's artstyle but like I already said, it's not my most disliked thing about the series).

To be fair, it made sense in context considering that those episodes were about the 20th anniversary hence why they brought back Misty and Brock, even putting them in their original outfits so Jigglypuff’s appearance there was about OS fan service.

The way Ash won in his battle with Leon was dumb and made no sense. Like Pikachu is almost unconscious during the battle but then ooooh he remembers his friends and then the POWER FRIENDSHIP causes him to get super mega-ultra powerful for...some reason?????
????? WHAT?????

I don't mind it (and it would give Dawn three significant battles for the Grand Festival, which would be pretty impressive narratively), but I just don't think Dawn would be able to give us the level of finesse Zoey did against Nando (and I say that as a huge Dawn fan). Nando Vs. Zoey is one of the best battles in the franchise in my opinion and completely captured what Contest Battles are ultimately about. The fact that Dawn was visually enamored from start to finish just watching them reinforces the gravitas of their fight. It's a shame we didn't get more Contest Battles on that level elsewhere.

Pikachu had almost collapsed and was able to regain its strength by thinking of Ash and his friends. It was the best part of the finale and it was one of the best directed scenes of the show by almost making it look like Ash lost again while Pikachu was able to win.

Well, my reasoning was that we'd still get that spectacle, just against Jessie instead of Nando. And that would benefit Jessie too because it'd show how far she's come as a Coordinator herself, and lend more credence to Team Rocket being more skilled and accomplished than they're usually given credit for.

As much as I would have loved for Jessie to get a better sendoff as a Coordinator, I really love Zoey vs. Nando. It's easily one of the best Contest battles, if not the best Contest battle between AG and DP. It's one of the reasons why I think Zoey ultimately deserved to win the Grand Festival. I'm not sure if I could have seen Jessie putting up that good of a match against Nando. She definitely deserved an actual on-screen final Contest battle though.

Uh... you mean Zoey, right? XD

And that's fair: I did like Nando vs Zoey as well. I just think it's a shame that Dawn never really got to face off against Nando and that her last victory as a Contestant was against someone she already trounces on a regular basis and the battle was relegated to offscreenland on top of that.

I don’t know where to put it, so I put it there because it’s where it fits the most:

I don’t think the scene of Ash being savvy by breaking the "Talking Is a Free Action" trope and taking Pikachu back during TR’s motto is funny. "It’s AU Ash, not regular Ash" is not an excuse, because I don’t remember AU Ash being that savvy. His humor is the same as the regular one. So I consider this scene way too out-of-place to be considered funny.

If anything, it looks like more it’s from a Pokémon parody than an actual Pokémon scene.

completely unrealistic. I cannot recall a single moment in a Pokemon game where my Pokemon was able to revive itself after I yelled at the screen (remember your friends). Ash basically action replayed himself into that victory.

Man, how long's it been since I posted here?

Well kept this secret for a long time. Okay, so maybe it's the nostalgia, maybe it was the overwhelming emotion I felt of seeing Pokemon and their clones beating each other up and not in the typical fun sport of Pokemon battling but for what was basically needless fighting. Buuuuuuut, I do actually like "Brother My Brother" playing in that scene of "Mewtwo Strikes Back". I'm not here to argue whether or not the song fits in the context of the scene or if the use of the song period worked for the movie that wasn't even from the U.S., people or allowed to believe what they want about the song, I respect their opinions, I'm not here to stop anybody. I'm just sharing this because I feel like I might be the only fan that liked it. Please don't judge me...
