App Update Summary
The full changelog from the Version 2.47.0 update can be read here, with additional information also included at the top of the letter from the developers here. Below, we've summarized the most notable changes with this update.
Damage Challenge
New Content for the Damage Challenge has been added with this update, with the addition of 5★ Blue and Alakazam from July 31st, at 11:00pm (PDT). See below for more information.
72 Hours Only! Champion Stadium Hard Level Celebration Scout!
Starting from this update, a special Sync Pair Scout ×11 featuring all Fair-Exclusive Sync Pairs released up to June 15th this year will unlock for players for 72 hours when they complete the Champion Stadium on Normal and unlock Hard Lv. 1 difficulty. Players who have already unlocked Hard Lv. 1 will have access to the scout for 72 hours from the first time they log in from July 30th.
On using this scout, players will also receive a large amount of additional training materials as a bonus gift, sufficient to raise up to 15 Sync Pairs up to Level 140, as well as a selection of other bonus items including Co-op Sync Orbs ×50,000, and 5★ Power-Ups ×20.
From July 31st at 11:00pm (PDT), players who have teamed up with Iono & Bellibolt will be able to invite Iono to the Trainer Lodge.
Unlike with some past Trainer Lodge updates, Iono & Bellibolt are not currently being featured in any regular Scout alongside this addition. Players who don't yet have them will either need to wait patiently for them to reappear, or to get lucky with their 72 Hours Only! Champion Stadium Hard Level Celebration Scout! special scout.
Main Story PML Arc updates
As part of the updates for the Main Story's PML Arc, the rewards players will receive for completing this content has been adjusted upwards. Players who have already completed this content will receive compensation of 15,000 Gems, equal to the difference between the original rewards and the new rewards.
Event UI Update
The Events list screen will now separate events into two categories:
- Recommended Events: New events, as well as events specifically designated as recommended
- Reruns: Returning events that have previously been held
A brand new story area for the Mysterious Stones Chapter, A Leader's Role, a Challenger's Struggle, will be available in-game from July 31st. Featuring Lance, Alder, Clair, and Benga, this story area is intended as the final part of the Mysterious Stones chapter.
To access this area, players will need to have acquired a minimum of 900 Mysterious Stones. These can be obtained as completion rewards from Daily Region Rotation battles, as well as rarely from Trainer Lodge expeditions, and from some area info in the Training Areas.
Mysterious Stones that are exchanged in Monthly Exchanges will still count for unlocking this and other areas for the Mysterious Stones Chapter, as these unlocks are based on stones acquired rather than stones on hand.
New Alt. Sync Pairs for Elio and Selene debut alongside a brand new Story Event
Two new Sync Pairs featuring Elio and Selene in their Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon outfits will be added to the game over the coming week, alongside a brand new Story Event, Ultra Beast Meet-and-Greet, which commences on July 30th. In this event, Elio and Selene arrange an event to try and help foster better relations between people and Ultra Beasts, but things don't go according to plan.
As previewed in last month's update from the developers, this event will feature an altered, simplified format, where players will collect Event Points as they complete battles, earning rewards based on the total amount of event points acquired instead of trading for specific desired rewards.
Elio (Alt.) & Stakataka are focused on providing a solid wall to protect the rest of their party, with their Passive Skill buffing their Defense and Sp. Def by a full six stat ranks the first time they use a Trainer move each battle. If that wasn't hard enough, they can also apply an Alola Circle (Defensive) Field Effect using a Trainer move. This should power up the special attack and sync moves of the player's team by 5%, while reducing all attack move and Sync Move damage received by allies (from both physical and special moves) by 10%. These values would then be boosted when the team includes additional Sync Pairs with the Alola Theme skill, up to a maximum of 20% power-up and 25% damage reduction. This effect is further boosted by another one of their Passive Skills, which buffs all allies Attack and St. Attk by one stat rank whenever Elio (Alt.) & Stakataka activate a Field Effect. As if this didn't already make them a solid and hardy defender, their Ultra Endurance! Trainer Move restores all allies HP by approximately 20%, as well as applying the Gradual Healing effect to the entire party.
The opposite to their Alolan counterpart, Selene (Alt.) & Nihilego are focused on debuffing opponents to make them weaker to continued attacks. Their Passive Skill will lower all opponent's Sp. Def by two stat ranks and leave them poisoned whenever Selene (Alt.) & Nihilego land an attack with their Acid move. These debuffs also serve to power up their Nihil Meteor Beam Buddy Move, which does more damage when Sp. Def is lowered, as well as additional Sp. Def debuffs when those opponents are poisoned or badly poisoned. In addition to these debuffs to opponents, their Trainer Move will also apply Alola Circle (Special) to the allied field of play. Alola Circle (Special) powers up the special attack and sync moves of the player's team by 10%, as well as reducing the special attack and sync move damage received by their team by 5%. These values are boosted when the team includes additional Sync Pairs with the AlolaTheme Skill, up to a maximum of 40% power-up and 14% damage reduction. Between both Elio and Selene, this makes for a rock-hard team able to deal punishing special damage.
Other upcoming Updates and Events
New Legendary Gauntlet and Ultimate Battle
Players can expect a new Legendary Gauntlet and a new Legendary Battle to be added to the game sometime during August. No details on the opponents for these additions have been released as of the time of writing.
Returning Villain Events
Villain Events from the Sinnoh Chapter of the Villain Arc, will return to the game some time in August. This chapter originally incoprporated three separate events, Galactic Nightmare, Dreams of the Voice, and Galactic Awakening. While the latter two of these events have already been re-run multiple times since their original runs, Galactic Nightmare has never been re-run since it first went up in late 2021. It's not clear from the announcement if this event will once again be skipped, or if all events will be re-run.
New Story Content for the 5th Anniversary
The update states that the 5th anniversary will bring a "new adventure" following the conclusion of the Mysterious Stones Chapter. No further information is available on this new story content at this point in time. It is likely more information may be revealed in an upcoming Pokémon Presents presentation, which is expected several days before the start of the 2024 Pokémon World Championships.
