Mega Evolution—Ascended Heroes expansion for the Pokémon TCG announced for release starting from January 30th, 2026

The first special expansion of the Pokémon Trading Card Game's Mega Evolution Series has been officially announced in a press release by The Pokémon Company International. Mega Evolution—Ascended Heroes will release internationally from January 30th. The set will primarily contain cards from the Japanese High Class Pack: MEGA Dream ex expansion, which releases there on November 28th, along with some additional cards from the Start Deck 100 Battle Collection decks that release in Japan this December 19th.

As with its Japanese equivalent set, Mega Evolution—Ascended Heroes will largely contain reprints of various notable Pokémon and Trainer cards released in 2024 and 2025, including reprints of Pokémon ex, (Stellar) Tera Pokémon ex, and Mega Evolution Pokémon ex cards. This set also debuts new Trainer's Pokémon, as well as Mega Evolution Pokémon and characters introduced in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, such as Mega Dragonite as Mega Evolution Pokémon ex. It also introduces a new Mirror Holofoil Energy pattern and various Poké Ball patterns that can appear on certain cards.

MEGA Dream ex introduces a new rarity of Pokémon cards, known as "Mega Attack Rare". Cards with this rarity are Full Art Mega Evolution Pokémon ex cards rendered in a pop art style, with the card's highlight attack written with large text on the foreground. The attack text differs between the Japanese and English localizations; the English card art has Japanese text for the card's attack and vice versa. This stylization is reminiscent of Mega Evolution Pokémon-EX cards released during the XY Series.

Players and collectors can expect the set to include the following:

• A total of over 290 new cards
• 13 new Mega Pokémon ex
• 6 Tera Pokémon ex and 20 Pokémon ex
• Over 30 Trainer cards
• More than 75 full art cards, including:
  • 33 illustration rare Pokémon
  • 14 ultra rare Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, Pokémon ex, and Trainer cards
  • 22 special illustration rare Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, Pokémon ex, and Supporter cards
  • 7 Mega Attack Rare Mega Evolution Pokémon ex cards

As usual, Mega Evolution—Ascended Heroes will also be available for players of the Pokémon TCG Live app one day ahead of the physical release, on January 29th, 2026.

Mega Evolution—Ascended Heroes will be available across across the typical variety of formats for Special Expansions. More detail on these can be found below. These various products will release in multiple waves going all the way through to April 2026.

Tech Sticker and Trainer's Two Pack Collections - Releases January 30th, 2026
The Ascended Heroes Tech Sticker Collections each include three Mega Evolution—Ascended Heroes booster packs, one rare-style promo card featuring Charmander or Gastly, and one sticker sheet featuring Mega Charizard Y or Mega Gengar respectively.

The Trainer's Two Pack Collections each include two Mega Evolution—Ascended Heroes booster packs and one promo card featuring a Trainer’s Pokémon, plus one matching coin for that trainer. As of writing, the only known Trainer's Two Packs are for Larry's Komala and Erika's Tangela, though the cards themselves, and the pack and coin design for Erika, are yet to be revealed.

Mini Tins - Releases February 20th, 2026
Each of the five different Mini Tins for this set include two Mega Evolution—Ascended Heroes booster packs, one art card, and one sticker card matching the tin’s art.

Elite Trainer Boxes - Releases February 20th, 2026
This set's Elite Trainer Box features Mega Dragonite, and will include nine Mega Evolution—Ascended Heroes booster packs together with the usual assortment of energy cards, card sleeves, and other gameplay accessories, as well as an illustration-rare style promo card of N's Zekrom. A Pokémon Center version of this Elite Trainer Box will also be available, including an additional 2 booster packs, and an additional illustration-rare style promo card of N's Zekrom featuring a Pokémon Center logo.

Mega Lucario and Mega Gardevoir Premium Poster Collections - Releases March 20th, 2026
The Mega Lucario and Mega Gardevoir Premium Poster Collections will include 10 Mega Evolution—Ascended Heroes booster packs, a Mega Lucario ex or Mega Gardevoir ex Mega Attack Rare style promo card, and a roughly 27 inch by 39 inch poster of the card.

Booster Bundle - Releases April 24th, 2026
The Booster Bundle will include the standard number of six Mega Evolution—Ascended Heroes booster packs.
