Celebrate the start of the Year of the Snake this week in Pokémon's GO's Lunar New Year Event, running Wednesday through Sunday

Pokémon GO this week is celebrating the year of the Snake with 2025 Lunar New Year event. This event will run from the beginning of the Lunar New Year, on Wednesday, January 29th, at 10:00am, through to Sunday, February 2nd, at 8:00pm local time. Trainers will have an increased chance to encounter Shiny Ekans and hatch Shiny Nosepass during this event.

Event Bonuses and Activities
The following bonuses will be active during the event period:

• Increased chance to get Lucky Pokémon in trades
• Increased chance to become Lucky Friends

PokéStop Showcases for event-themed Pokémon will also be running at different PokéStops.

Collection Challenges
Event-themed Collection Challenges focused on catching Pokémon will be available as part of this event. Trainers completing these Collection Challenges will receive Stardust.

Field Research
Free event-themed Field Research is available for the Lunar New Year event. Trainers completing the Field Research tasks will receive Stardust, and encounters with event-themed Pokémon.

Free and Paid Timed Research
Free event-themed Timed Research will be available over the Lunar New Year event. Exploring routes to complete this Timed Research will award Trainers with XP, Stardust, and 10 Zygarde Cells.

Trainers will also be able to access event-exclusive Timed Research for US$2.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in each local currency). Completing this Timed Research will grant the the following rewards:

• Two Lucky Eggs
• One Incubator
• Encounters with Ekans and Nosepass

The tasks associated with this Timed Research must be completed and their rewards must be claimed before February 2nd, at 8:00pm local time.
