Made by Oki!

Yo! I finally caved and conquered my timidness to join the party and make one of these! (Hopefully it won't collect dust...) Welcome to my "idea blog"! If you're looking for my personal, more journalistic blog, it's right over here. As for what you can expect to find here, I'll try to keep it as organized as I can. You will find my concept art scraps, sketch scraps, and overall 'junk' that I make usually for roleplay worldbuilding among friends (usually Pokemon stuff), or just personal ideas for both fics, HCs and AUs, original concepts 'n whatnot that I fail to keep organized anywhere else. Think of this like... a personal challenge to myself to have a proper place I can have my ideas for sheets in my portfolio to actually be cohesive.

I'll try to be less embarrassed about it all tbh... LOL Hopefully it'll be informative both how I come up with design ideas that match a setting and how I ponder concepts? I dunno. World is your oyster or something. Either way, thanks for looking here. Upon writing this, there's nothing yet, but I hope to fill this up like a scrapbook pretty soon! If you have any questions or wanna chat here, that's fine too! I'll properly threadmark stuff this time (why am I so disorganized when it's my OWN stuff... LOL...) Hopefully I keep my courage and post in here!

Welcome to the defunct rail-line where I hide everything away!

I'm super super excited to see what you post here, neechan!! I really love hearing you talk about your headcanons and AUs, and especially seeing you share your sketches, so needless to say I'm very happy you made this!!
I will eat up everything here, I promise.... I already think Guitar Kudari is so cute!!!!!!!!
Maybe if I collect enough scraps from here, I can build a line of my own...?
Wanted to pop in to cheer you on, hopefully that is fine! お楽しみにしている!!♡♡

Cheering you on if you do! I was motivated by seeing everyone else have fun with it, so I'm hoping I can keep it up... (Thank you for your encouragement always)

PERSONALITY

Despite her job that demanded both decorum and appearances, Brynn is a rather flippant woman. Her tone fluctuates between casual and brash, which can lead to some unintentional tactlessness in particular situations. Though this is the case, many Depot Agents at Gear Station favored working under Brynn due to her carefree attitude, even if she had her 'Dragon-Type moments' (coined by some).

In her youth, she had both vulgar habits and a more vulgar mouth, but both her husband and motherhood allowed her to develop healthier routines, if not for herself, for her children. Even if she isn't the perfect mother (often forgetting to call, or her carelessness getting the best of her), Brynn is a doting woman, very proud of her children and even assigning her Chandelure as their 'protector' whenever she was unable to be present. She loves to tease (usually her husband), and carries a noble air in the heat of battle. Brynn can most aptly be described as 'dauntless', a trainer any youth would look up to, so long as they didn't know of her personal flaws.

HISTORY

A prodigy in her youth, Brynn's battle prowess in her hometown of Motostoke was nothing to scoff at. Her peers and tutors alike often described the girl as 'a sword without a sheathe'. She had outstanding potential, but she was aimless, working in the town's station after her schooling until she had a fated encounter with a Unovian-born engineer named Wilhelm who happened to be visiting Galar on a long term locomotive project. Wilhelm being the timid soul he was, caught the more 'carnivorous' young woman's eye rather quickly, challenging him to battles she knew he couldn't win. Through Wilhelm, Brynn learned of the ongoing development of the Battle Subway back in the engineer's homeland, and was swiftly enthused by the idea of such a thing (and Wilhelm himself).

One thing led to another, and Brynn bid adieu to her life in Galar, moving in with Wilhelm in Unova's Anville Town, a quiet trainyard with a route to Gear Station-- Wilhelm's main line of work and where she skipped her way up the ladder to being the station's one and only 'Subway Master'-- A new position for the old station created in hopes of upping tourism affairs within the industry. Occasionally, the now-couple would visit family in Galar during their vacation periods, where they both eventually wed and then had their children, whom they took back to Unova when they were no more than infants. Unfortunately, Wilhelm's health had started to fail not long after their birth, and the father passed away just as the two had become old enough to recall his absence.

Chamomile, Brynn's Chandelure, was often tasked with watching over the children when she could not be present after such an event, to which the lamp took to proudly. When the twins came of age, Ingo was gifted a Litwick from Chamomile's egg to look after, just as Emmet received a Tynamo egg from their father's Eelektross (whom Brynn now took care of). She hadn't expected her children to follow in her footsteps-- she had often encouraged them to travel the region of Unova during their schooling like so many other children had, but instead, they never wandered far, honing their skills at her workplace and becoming an endearing sight to both employees and travelers alike.

A truth unknown to all but her children, the Subway's mistress had an insatiable wanderlust, longing to travel the world like she had lacked to do in her youth. It was around this time both her children usurped her role, and Brynn retired from her position earlier than anticipated. With their combined encouragement (and leaving Gear Station in their capable hands), Brynn took to traveling across regions, leaving her precious Chandelure Chamomile ever still, to watch over the duo. In her absence, the twins moved to Nimbasa City, and the rest is history.

She's quite terrible at keeping in touch, but she at least sends postcards whenever she has the chance.

NOTES

◆ Her name is meant to be a nod to the phrase 'Fire and brimstone', an idiomatic phrase that is meant to describe the trials and tribulations of God-- in a more down to earth sense here, her 'challenges' as a trainer.
◆ Her name starts with a B as Wilhelm's starts with a W, solely so their names abbreviated together can read as BW
◆ She loves spicy food, much to her husband's chagrin.
◆ Her Galarian accent is subtle, but definitely more noticeable than Ingo's.
◆ Perhaps due to owning and raising a Chandelure, she's actually extremely fond of Ghost-types, even if she doesn't focus on using them.
◆ Both Ingo and Emmet use a Chandelure in the Battle Subway canonly with the same nature and IV spread, because of this, I like to imagine it's the same exact Chandelure (Chamomile) that they trade off using. Ingo is the one mostly in charge of her ownership, however, given his stature as the 'older' sibling deemed to protect much like the lamp had.
◆ Her main motif is a diamond shape (shown in various design accents on her person) because the shape is two triangles put together!
◆ Other than swearing, she used to smoke, a habit she gave up after marrying Wilhelm.
◆ Cloud, Gear Station's Depot Agent Chief, was a youth appointed by her shortly before her retirement.
◆ Even though her known skill was retained to Single and Double battles, Brynn greatly enjoys Unova's invented Rotation and Triple battles most of all, and teaches the sport to other trainers during her travels.
◆ The Lampent currently in her party is actually the Litwick she originally gave Ingo, both traded so they would always be reminded of each other before her departure.
◆ Even though she retired early, she retains her competitive spirit, challenging up and coming trainers across the globe.
◆ Her current status is meant to invoke the idea of her being an encounterable NPC across various games, much like the essence of Looker and Anabel (without being a Faller, of course).

yggdrasilconcept.jpg

(extremely rough concept lol)

EPOCH

Since long ago, it was believed Arceus descended onto the earth and bestowed creation upon the lands. This 'creation' supposedly exists in the form of the World Tree, otherwise dubbed Yggdrasil by the people. Whether Arceus Itself created the tree remains unknown, but unmistakably, Its power emanates from both Yggdrasil's branches and soil.

This power has come to be known as mana, and is the source for many other magical properties that imbue the lives of humans and Pokemon alike. Mana is the life essence of all things, every living being has an innate amount of mana within them, but with proper time and care, all mana can be honed and turned into an art- an art that many humans have dubbed magic. Pokemon, however, make use of their mana in a far more varied variety, ranging from mysterious energies known as Z-Power, Mega Evolution, Terrastallization, and so on. That isn't to say humans lack their own versatile uses of mana, however, a Pokemon's mana will always manifest stronger than a human's (or any human-like being), unless the Pokemon is very weak.

Pokemon are considered 'Arceus' Gift' to the world below. For centuries humans have worked to befriend and live alongside Pokemon, though naturally, not all humans had such good will. Pokemon are as dangerous as they are benevolent creatures, many kingdoms have led one another to ruin using Pokemon as tools of war, a concept that thankfully has become left to the annals of history thanks to a series of events that united the regions briefly under one banner.

Maladies spread across the war tarnished land, taking the form of monstrous beings that closed the hearts of Pokemon and threatened the life that Yggdrasil had so dearly protected. With a united front, the kingdoms were able to defeat Maladies and purify the hearts of Pokemon affected by them-- but the threat the Maladies bring lingers through the ages, albeit manifesting in weaker forms (so far...)

Since then, 'adventuring parties' have begun forming in the era of tentative peace, defeating Maladies and purifying shadow-hearted Pokemon along the way. Many of these parties are either appointed by guilds or even the royals themselves, taking their Pokemon partners with them through perilous quests in the name of peace--

and to earn a little coin on the side, of course.

The kingdom of Celestica rests at Yggdrasil's base, a country witnessed with reverence by many, despite its ties to the Twin Dragon War that marked the appearance of Maladies.

YGGDRASIL

Known as the World Tree by some, a mysterious tree that is the font of mana throughout the world. While many regions agree that Arceus created the land (unless they follow a more secular belief), few agree on if the creator had birthed the tree as well. Xerneas is another fabled Pokemon that is contested among scholars as the tree’s maker. Regardless of how it came to be, Yggdrasil is worshipped by all, with festivals held in Celestica every year to give gratitude to the ancient tree.

Even more peculiar is the fable that within Yggdrasil lies a sprawling tower-like dungeon. If the tale is true, none are alive to speak of it but Yggdrasil's Guardian, who wouldn't dare reveal the secrets to enter the tree's barrier.

Water and foliage gathered from what falls from Yggdrasil's branches can be consumed, and is a sacred elixir that aids in restoring one's own mana.

In truth, Yggdrasil was created by ██████ and the bloodline of ██████ is not as close to Celestica's people as they believe.

THE KINGDOM OF CELESTICA

Supposedly, Celestica is the oldest known kingdom on the globe, a historical fact further proven true by its residence beneath Yggdrasil's roots, a right given to the Celestian people by Yggdrasil itself. In truth, Celestica was not the original kingdom that lived beneath Yggdrasil's grace, but a civilization that was built upon the ruins of another few remember as Vale. This fact is left to the annals of the past, leaving Celestica to bear the stain of culminating the Twin Dragon War even if this was not truly the case. Ever since, the people of Celestica have lived in benevolence in their far reaching partnership with regions across the earth-- but not without lasting superstition surrounding the royal family.

The present king and queen of Celestica are prolific for their time serving in the legendary party that defeated the last great wave of powerful Maladies, and purifying the vicious Ice-Dragon Pokemon Kyurem.

To be added.

TWIN DRAGON WAR

The Twin Dragon War, was a grim era much of the region Celestica and its occupants became entwined with. The story has it that the kingdom of Vale was the first to reside beneath Yggdrasil's branches, and became allied with the dragon Pokemon of Truth and Ideals-- Reshiram and Zekrom. The king bestowed the partnership of the noble beasts onto his twin sons, in hopes of further enkindling an honor and pride to rule Vale's future. Unfortunately, the influence over the dragons only spurred the twin princes against each other, and childish arguments grew into bloodshed with age. The kingdom of Vale had become fractured, enveloping all nearby regions in its war with itself. The conflict between brothers had seemed endless, and the war had only come to an end when the grounds of the kingdom became naught but ash. The respective dragons disappeared from their masters that brought each other's end, and for several decades all that was left of Vale's legacy was the rubble of a kingdom that once was.

The Twin Dragon War ended with no victor, yet still, a new kingdom rose from its debris--

A kingdom that now called itself Celestica.

Celestica does not live without scars from Vale's mistakes, however, its deities Reshiram and Zekrom are still nowhere to be found. While the royals of Celestica are now adored by many, the superstition in the kingdom has ever remained that twin children are a curse, a belief not bereft from the royal family either.

"PRINCE IN WHITE"

The younger prince of Celestica by but a few precious minutes, Emmet Ashford follows his older twin with little hesitance. Emmet had an unlucky sort of childhood— he was born frail, sickly enough that the waters of Yggdrasil were often the only antidote for his ailments. With time, he grew strong enough to dance spritely through the streets of Celestica despite his constitution remaining frail.

The consumption of Yggdrasil’s water in his childhood helped circulate his mana, but Emmet could not channel magic as intensely as his brother despite this gained strength. His magic often manifests in bursts of power, as complex spells are beyond his abilities. If he were able to cultivate them, it is believed by Ingo that his brother excels in ‘white’ aspected magic, of holy and healing varieties— It remains an astute assumption to this day, as Emmet can do little to prove himself unhindered. Perhaps the “curse” he was placed under since birth has a hand in encumbering him as well…?

To be added. Prospect of “curse”.
To be added. Concerning matters of white magic.

However all is not entirely misfortunate, his lack of ability allowed him to rely on, and bond easily with Pokemon around him. Even more reassuring is his relationship with Celestica’s people, who favor the younger prince over his (unintentionally) intimidating sibling. Emmet can be often found with his right-hand knight, Elesa, by his side, offering smiles to any who might be in need of his reassurance. When not taking rare moments to stroll, he can be found huddled at Ingo’s side in the royal library, intently gazing over his scholarly brother’s shoulder at ancient scripture.

Deep down, Emmet wants to join an adventuring party and explore the world much like his parents had, but such a life isn’t in the cards for a prince of the kingdom who idly spends his days.

But peaceful days aren’t meant to last… A call to destiny may fling him into the maw of adventure sooner than he may be ready for.
