The next expansion in the Pokémon Trading Card Game, Sword & Shield—Fusion Strike, has been officially announced by The Pokémon Company International. The expansion will be released worldwide from November 12, 2021.

Fusion Strike sees the introduction of a new Battle Styles gameplay mechanic, the Fusion Strike Style. Pokémon with this style focus on teamwork and strength in numbers, benefiting when multiple allied Pokémon that use the same style are deployed. They can be further assisted with Trainer and Special Energy cards that also feature the style, allowing players to build an entire deck around this mechanic.

As usual, Fusion Strike will be available across a variety of formats, including the typical booster packs, Elite Trainer Box, and Special Collections. A pre-release Sword & Shield—Fusion Strike Build & Battle Box will also be made available at participating Pokémon TCG retailers from October 30, 2021, containing four Fusion Strike booster packs, a 23-card Evolution pack including one of four alternative art promo cards, and a deckbuilding tip sheet. A new product, Sword & Shield—Fusion Strike Build & Battle Stadium will be available from November 26, 2021, which includes 2 Sword & Shield—Fusion Strike Build & Battle Boxes, 4 Fusion Strike booster packs, 121 Energy cards, various Pokémon TCG accessories, and a storage box.

The set list of the Pokémon TCG: Sword & Shield—Fusion Strike expansion includes notably lower numbers of Pokémon VMAX and Full Art Pokémon V than the previous Evolving Skies expansion, which had an expanded number of these cards in part due to the number of Eeveelutions contained in the set. All together, the set numbers:
  • 20 Pokémon V and 13 full-art Pokémon V
  • 8 Pokémon VMAX
  • 20 Trainer cards and 7 full-art Supporter cards
  • A new Special Energy card
