A new trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet recently released by The Pokémon Company International on the official Pokémon YouTube channel revealed several new features, a new Pokémon that evolved from an existing Pokémon, and two new Abilities. Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet will launch on November 18th on the Nintendo Switch systems.

The distribution of code cards to redeem Shiny Eternatus in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield that were previously announced for several countries has now also been announced to be distributed in Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. In Taiwan and Hong Kong, the code cards will be distributed from October 18th, while it will distribute from October 21st in Japan. Both will distribute them until November 17th. No purchase will be required for players to receive these code cards, however supplies are limited and will only be available while stocks last. Each person can only receive one code card, and each code can only be used once. The codes will expire on November 24th in Japan only.

Niantic has announced that the Festival of Lights event will make its return this year in Pokémon GO. This event, which runs from October 14th at 10:00 a.m. to October 17th at 8:00 p.m. local time, will sees the Pokémon GO debut of the Illuminating Pokémon Morelull and Shiinotic. Morelull can be evolved into Shiinotic using 50 Morelull Candy.

Niantic has announced that the next Pokémon GO Community Day Classic event will feature Dratini. During this event, Dratini will be appearing more frequently in the wild, and its Shiny variant can also be encountered. The event will be held on November 5th, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time.

Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield's October 2022 Season for Ranked Battles (Season 35) has begun. This season will run until 4:59pm PDT on October 31st. This season will follow the Series 13 regulations, in which Trainers can battle alongside special Pokémon that are normally restricted. However, there are no restrictions on the number of special Pokémon that may be registered to the Battle Team. Dynamaxing or Gigantamaxing are also allowed.

The Pokémon Company International and internationally renowned singer-songwriter and musician Ed Sheeran have announced a special collaboration for a new song that will be featured in-game in the upcoming Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet games. Celestial is available for download now from the iTunes Store, and for streaming via Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and Amazon Music.

Following on from the announcement last week that the Pokémon Trading Card Game will be officially printed in Simplified Chinese for release in Mainland China, full details on the initial launch have now been revealed, including information about the first sets to be released. The 太陽＆月亮一橫空出世 (Sun & Moon一Spectacular Transcendence) expansion will be released as three different subsets, 赫 (Radiant), 苍 (Verdant), and 泽 (Abundant), for release on October 28th, alongside a GX Starter Set. A launch event will also be held in China on this same day to celebrate the release of the Simplified Chinese cards.

Niantic has announced the Evolving Stars event for Pokémon GO, which will run from October 5th at 10:00am to October 11th at 8:00pm local time. Cosmoem will be making its Pokémon GO debut during this event, with Trainers able to able to evolve their Cosmog into Cosmoem by using 25 Cosmog Candy. A new part in the season-long Season of Light Special Research will also be unlocking as part of this event.

A video released today on the World Pokémon Ecological Society website has given us our first look at Wiglett, an entirely new Pokémon making its debut in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Niantic has given an update on a range of content that will be available in Pokémon GO over the month of October. These events will be running from October 1st, at 1:00pm (PDT, GMT −7) to November 1st, at 1:00pm (PDT, GMT −7).

A press conference for the launch of the game in Mainland China will be livestreamed via the official Pokémon channel on the Chinese video sharing website Bilibili on September 28th at 8:00pm (CST). No other information about the launch has been made available at this time, however the press conference is expected to include an announcement of the first sets that will be launched in the market.

The Pokémon Company International has announced that Pokémon Ultimate Journeys: The Series, the 25th season of the long-running Pokémon animated series, will premiere October 21st, exclusively on Netflix in the U.S. This season will continue to follow Ash Ketchum and his Pikachu, as well as Goh and Chloe, as they embark on their latest adventures in the Pokémon world.

To celebrate the Pokémon GO Safari Zone: Goyang event in South Korea, all Trainers worldwide are receiving limited Timed Research tasks from September 24th at 8am local time until September 25th at 8pm local time. By completing these tasks, Trainers will be able to encounter the Perfume Pokémon Spritzee. Particularly lucky Trainers may encounter its Shiny variant, which is making its debut with this event.

Niantic has released more details on the upcoming ticketed Pokémon GO Safari Zone: Taipei event, which will being held from October 21st to October 23rd at the Da'an Forest Park in the city of Taipei. A Pokémon Air Adventures event is also scheduled to be held concurrently with this Safari Zone event. While only Trainers in Taipei will be able to access the complete event, some limited items from the Air Adventures event will be available worldwide.

Niantic has announced details for the 2022 edition of Pokémon GO's Fashion Week event, which this year will be running from September 27th at 10:00am through until October 3rd at 8:00pm local time. During the event, trainers can look forward to encountering a variety of Pokémon wearing fashionable costumes including Diglett, Dugtrio, Absol, and Toxicroak. The Brutal Star Pokémon Mareanie and Toxapex will each be making their debut during Fashion Week, together with a selection of new avatar items inspired by the two Pokémon. Furfrou, who made its Pokémon GO debut during 2021's Fashion Week event, will be able to be encountered in its Shiny variant for the first time.

Niantic has confirmed that the Candle Pokémon, Litwick will be the featured Pokémon for Pokémon GO's Community Day for October 2022. During this event, Litwick will be appearing more frequently in the wild, with its Shiny variant also being available. The event will be held on October 15th, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm local time.

A limited-time distribution of Lucario was announced for Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield during the September 16th broadcast of Pokémon Journeys: The Series (Pocket Monsters) in Japan. This Lucario is based on the Lucario used by Ash Ketchum in the World Coronation Series. Players can redeem this Lucario using the code「HAD0UW0CATCH」. This code can only be redeemed until September 29th.

The Ultra Beasts Celesteela and Kartana are making their Pokémon GO debut, appearing in five-star raids in the Southern and Northern Hemispheres respectively between September 13th and September 27th. Mega Aggron will also make its Pokémon GO debut in Mega Raids between September 16th and September 27th. Meanwhile, Niantic has also announced the Test Your Mettle event that will be running from September 16th at 10:00am to September 21st at 8:00pm local time. The Roly-Poly Pokémon, Togedemaru will be making its Pokémon GO debut as part of this event.

Universal Music Japan will tomorrow launch their new Pokémon Music Collective project with the release of 「うたう」 ("utau", meaning "sing"), a new single from popular young TikTok artist imase. From midnight Wednesday, the song will be available for download from the iTunes Store, and for streaming via Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, Deezer, and Soundcloud.

Pokémon Masters EX continues its current run of event re-runs with the return of A Pasio Spectacle from early this year. Also running this week is a new Egg Event focused on Electric- and Fighting-Types.
