Pokémon UNITE Weekend, which is held on the first Saturday and Sunday of every month, is back again from January 4th at 12:00am (UTC), through to January 5th at 11:59pm (UTC). As with previous months, all Pokémon licenses will be free to use (outside of Ranked matches) over the weekend, along with the ability to earn a large amount of Aeos coins, Aeos energy, and battle points over the weekly limit.
Compilations of the Animated Pokédex shorts is now available on the Pokémon Kids TV YouTube channel - Season 1 is available on the Japanese channel, and Season 2 on the English channel. These 1-and-half minute shorts focus on individual Pokémon species in their natural habitat.
The release date for Galarian Rapidash, the next Pokémon to join the fray in Pokémon UNITE has been announced — It will be available to play from January 23rd. Galarian Rapidash is a Special-Attacking Ranged All-Rounder with Intermediate Difficulty. At the time of writing, no further details have on Rapidash have been officially announced, however the Pokémon has been available in the public test server since November 21st.
Pokémon UNITE has updated to Version 1.17.1.6 as of 7:00am (UTC) on December 25th. These updates, dubbed "Next Step Part 2" (Japanese: 「ネクスト ステップ Part2」), bring balance adjustments for a variety of Pokémon, alongside bug fixes and Shop and Event updates.
The three-episode series of the Terapagos's Exploration Diary segments is now available on the Pokémon Asia ENG YouTube channel with official English subs. These segments were originally aired in Japan as テラパゴスのキラキラ探検記 The Brilliant Terapagos Expedition, with episodes of Pokémon Horizons: The Series, from The Singing Voice in the White Mist (December 1st, 2023) to The Roaring Black Rayquaza (December 15th, 2023), replacing the usual Professor Friede's Pokémon Seminar. The shorts follow the antics of Terapagos aboard the Brave Olivine.
BBC iPlayer's updated schedule reveals airdates for new episodes from Pokémon Horizons: Season 2—The Search for Laqua, the second season of Pokémon Horizons: The Series, which will premiere in the United Kingdom in January 2025. So far, the first three episodes will be released on BBC iPlayer on January 13th, and will air on CBBC on January 13th, 14th and 15th, respectively.
After completing the first season, episodes from the second season of Pokémon the Series, Pokémon: Adventures in the Orange Islands (following the older television definition) , are now available on the Pokémon TV YouTube channel, with episodes being added daily. A series of anime shorts based on monpoké (モンポケ), the official Pokémon brand for babies, kids and toddlers, has been announced for release on the Japanese Pokémon Kids TV YouTube channel in February 2025. The series will follow a Pikachu who arrives on monpoké Island, and falls in love with it while meeting lots of new friends. The staff for this series includes Reiko Yoshida for Series Composition and Script, and Animation Production by Fanworks.
The first Pokévideodex (Japanese: ポケモン動画図鑑 Pokémon Video Encyclopedia) short is now available on the official Japanese Pokémon YouTube channel. The remaining episodes from the first series of 10 shorts are being released on the channel on weekdays from December 16th.
Pokémon UNITE updated to Version 1.17.1.5 at 7am (UTC) on December 16th, amid the Winter Holiday event celebrations. This update brings balance changes to the newest Pokémon, Tinkaton, along with Shop and Event updates for the the ongoing Winter Holiday events. Specifically, this update fixes many of Tinkaton's shortcomings such as low impacts of moves other than Thief. Additionally, this update also brings bug fixes where moves of other Pokémon were not functioning as intended.
Tinkaton is the latest Pokémon to join the fray in Pokémon UNITE. Tinkaton is a physical attacking Melee All-Rounder with Novice difficulty, and can be purchased from the in-game shop for Aeos gem 790 Aeos Gems. It will also be available for Aeos coin 13,000 Aeos Coins from next week.

Pokémon UNITE is hosting a Holiday Gift Campaign in-game from December 5th to December 31st, where players who log in during the event period can obtain one Unite license of their choice per day for a total of 5 licenses over 5 days. Additionally, players can receive a Holowear or Rental Holowear Selection box by reposting the campaign post from Pokémon UNITE's official X (formerly Twitter) accounts, and pick Holowear that goes with the chosen license.

A new Battle Pass for Season 28 is now available to buy in Pokémon UNITE from December 5th, running through to January 15th. This Battle Pass features the Holowear Warm Style: Lapras and Holiday Style: Mew. New trainer outfits such as the "Warm Set" and background and frames will also be available, with new Holowear to be released during the event period.
Pokémon UNITE's matchmaking System will be getting improvements ahead of Ranked Battles Season 24, which starts December 5th. Additionally, players can participate in the Pokémon UNITE Twitch Drops Campaign to earn various rewards.
The Pokémon Company International has launched a new YouTube channel for Pokémon TV, which will debut full episodes of Pokémon The Series starting December 6th. According to the channel description, it will feature full episodes, live streams, compilations, and more.
