The 4th Grand Challenge from the 2025 season of VGC has now been announced. Registration for this online competition is open from May 1st at midnight (UTC) to May 8th at 11:59pm (UTC), with the event itself scheduled to run from May 9th at midnight (UTC) to May 11th at 11:59pm (UTC).
The 2025 Monterrey Regional Championships were won by now-6x Regional Champion Riley Factura with their team led by the Restricted Pokémon Miraidon. This marks Miraidon's fifth win at a major event in Scarlet and Violet. The 2025 Monterrey Regionals used the Regulation Set G ruleset, allowing the use of Paradox Pokemon, Legendary Pokemon, along with a choice of only one Restricted Special Pokemon per team. Notably, it's the final event in the Latin America region to use this ruleset before Regulation Set I begins at the beginning of May 2025.
The 2025 Malaysia Master Ball League was won by Lee Jin Yang with their team led by the Restricted Pokémon Lunala. This marks Lunala's second major win in Scarlet and Violet following its victory at the 2025 Vancouver Regionals. The 2025 Malaysia Master Ball League used the Regulation Set G ruleset, allowing the use of Paradox Pokemon, Legendary Pokemon, along with a choice of only one Restricted Special Pokemon per team. Notably, it's the penultimate National-level event in Asia to use this ruleset, followed by the 2025 Philippines Master Ball League on the 26-27th of April, before Regulation Set I begins at the beginning of May 2025.

During the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, it was announced that GameCube games would be coming to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2, with "clearer image quality and higher resolution." Two games revealed to be added after the console's release on June 5th are Generation 3's Pokémon Colosseum and Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, both having been developed by Genius Sonority and released in 2003 and 2005 respectively.
Pokémon have officially announced the next ruleset for VGC — Regulation Set I, running from May 1st to August 31st 2025. Notably, this timeframe includes the upcoming 2025 Pokémon World Championships, held from the 15th-17th of August. This new format allows players to use two Restricted Special Pokémon on their teams, instead of the previous format’s limit of one. Other Pokémon available for the player to use include Paradox Pokémon and Legendary Pokémon. The only Pokémon unable to be used are Mythical Pokémon and any Greninja with the ability Battle Bond.

Pokémon have announced a new program titled "Ace Trainer Rewards" — rewarding players for collecting Championship Points. Championship Points (CP) are primarily used to reward players participating in official competitive events for VGC, TCG, and GO, with an invite to that year's Pokémon World Championships. In the 2025 season, Ace Trainer Rewards offers players who reach a threshold of 200 CP, also referred to as reaching "Ace Trainer status", with an exclusive deck box and card sleeves in Pokémon TCG Live, as well as a Play Pokémon-stamped "Celebratory Fanfare" TCG promo card formerly exclusive to Asia.
The 2025 Fortaleza Regional Championships were won by Bruno Rebello, winning them their first Regional title in the Masters Division and second title overall.
